A court in St. Petersburg has granted the claim filed by Russia’s sanitation and consumers rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, and fined McDonald’s 100k rubles (approx. $3k) for breaking sanitary standards.

McDonald’s faced scrutiny after its premises were inspected last April. It was established that the company failed to meet the dairy products regulations. In some of the products, such as milkshakes and ice-cream bacteria exceeded the established levels of safety. One of the restaurants failed to maintain the due temperature storage of butter.

McDonald’s waived its right to challenge the results of the inspection led by Rospotrebnadzor. Representative of the company claimed in court that measures were in place to fix the breaches and that those responsible were reprimanded.
